Presidential Award for Teaching Finalist
Nancy Trollinger is one of three state finalists for Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching this school year. She was honored at the State Board of Education meeting on Nov. 3 and also at the NCCTM Math Conference at the end of October.

London and Paris Spring Break 2012
McDowell County students recently traveled to Italy and Germany over spring break with several teachers and parents. The travelers began their tour in Rome, traveled north through the Tuscan region, over the Austrian Alps, and into Munich, Germany's southern region of Bavaria. The travelers had a wonderful time learning history, new languages, culture, and eating new cuisine.
During Spring Break of 2012, students will be taking part in a tour to London and Paris. For more information on this exciting new tour contact Ms. Hernandez. Space is available, but limited.

Driving Directions to West Junior High School
From the West-
I-40 East bound to the first Old Fort exit. Take the exit and at the third stop light (approximately 9.5 miles) take a right the school is approximately .25 of a mile on your left.
From the East-
I-40 West bound to exit 86 take a right off of the exit ramp and at the third stop light take a left (you will be in front of Wal-Mart). Then at the third stop light take a left school will be .25 of a mile on your left.
From the South-
Hwy 221 north after you cross I-40 you will turn left at the first traffic light, and turn left again at the next traffic light (you will be in front of Wal-Mart). Then at the third stop light take a left school will be .25 of a mile on your left.
From the North-
Hwy 221 south once you get to the traffic light in Marion (beside Wal-Mart) take a right then at the third stop light take a left school will be .25 of a mile on your left.
